Cheese producer, Wyke Farms, has launched an expansion project of its Bruton-based site which the company hopes will result in a doubling of capacity.
Groundwork has begun on the site, which will be a rebuild of the Wyke Farms production facility in Bruton, Somerset.
The investment will include a 16,589m² energy and water-efficient production plant, and the company hopes the move will build sufficient infrastructure for servicing increased sales of Cheddar in both the UK and export markets. It hopes the new facility will be completed by the end of Q2 in 2023.
The move follows the company’s annual financial results which showed a turnover of £107 million, its highest turnover to date.
The results come as a result of export sales both to the EU and the rest of the world increase by almost 20%.
