Susan Jebb has confirmed that she will remain chair of the FSA after Ministers requested she stay in her position.
Jebb had previously announced her departure in February 2024, with her three year term due to end on 30th June. However, Ministers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland requested Jebb stay in her role as there proved to be “insufficient time” before the general election to complete the process of her departure.
As well as her role as FSA chair, Susan Jebb is also Professor of Diet and Population Health at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford.
Professor Susan Jebb said: “It remains a huge privilege to be the chair of such a fantastic organisation, and I am happy to remain as FSA chair at this important time. I am extremely grateful to colleagues at the University of Oxford whose support has made this possible.”
Jebb’s appointment is made by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care and counterparts in Wales and Northern Ireland.
