Dairy and pork exporters joined the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) at Food and Hospitality China (FHC).
Their appearance at the show enabled exporters to meet existing customers and potential new ones from the Chinese market.
AHDB analysis highlighted opportunities for dairy and red meat exports to Asia with its large population, increasing middle class wealth and a high regard for food safety and quality among consumers.
Lucy Randolph, AHDB head of international trade development (Dairy), said: “China and the wider Asia regions have enormous potential for our dairy exporters and FHC is the perfect platform to showcase what we have to offer.
“Our stand at the show also gave visitors the chance to try out our virtual reality experience, following the dairy journey from parlour to plate, as well as enjoying tasty treats produced with quality British dairy by our on-stand chef.”
FHC followed the first appearance of the AHDB dairy export team at Gulfood Manufacturing – the food ingredient show – at the start of November where the team was joined by three businesses with a focus on promoting mozzarella, Cheddar and milk powder.
Lucy added: “Gulfood Manufacturing is an important showcase which gave us the chance to focus on promoting dairy products into the ingredients sector. The Middle East is a big, commodity-driven market and the show provided the ideal platform to demonstrate what our exporters have to offer.”
