Ocado Retail has announced that Hannah Gibson will take over the role of CEO later this month as from 20th September.
Gibson is currently chief product officer for Ocado Technology and has spent over 10 years at the Ocado Group. Prior to the launch of Ocado Retail, Gibson was head of Ocado Zoom and before this role, she was head of product and merchandising on the Ocado Retail leadership team.
Online supermarket Ocado.com was established in 2000 and Ocado Retail was launched in 2019 as a joint venture with Marks and Spencer (M&S).
Hannah Gibson said she is “thrilled” to be returning to Ocado Retail at the stage of the brands “growth journey” and she feels “privileged” to serve Ocado customers.
She commented: “I look forward to working more closely with the teams across Ocado Retail, Ocado Group and M&S to meet the market challenges of today and to further strengthen our leading online grocery proposition.”
Big ambitions
Ocado retail chairman Tim Steiner said he is confident Gibson is the “right leader” and that she will be able to “navigate the nearer-term challenges associated with the macroeconomic environment.”
He added: “Ocado Retail has big ambitions and with its foundations now firmly in place, it is well-prepared for faster growth in the years to come.”
M&S CEO Stuart Machin said Hannah’s experience makes her the “ideal candidate to unlock the huge potential that remains in our joint venture and lead our partnership into the next phase of growth.”
