Trade organisation, the PTF (Provision Trade Federation) has launched a new manifestto setting out priorities for a New Parliament.
Commenting on the launch Andrew Kuyk CBE, PTF director general said: “ We are delighted to be publishing our new “Changing for the Better” manifesto setting out PTF’s Priorities for a new Parliament.
“We believe that a strong and sustainable UK food processing and trading sector is vital to the success of the economy and to meeting the needs of consumers, here and elsewhere, for safe, secure, nutritious and affordable food. Getting our future trading relationships right, with the EU and with the rest of the world, will be critical to our profitability and competitiveness, enabling us to invest, grow and innovate in years ahead. But it is essential that we retain consumer confidence in our quality and production standards in the event of regulatory changes.
“As an industry, we must also do more to tackle the big picture food system challenges of reducing our environmental impacts, improving our products and helping people to lead healthier lives. This will require new strategic thinking through genuine collaboration between government, industry and civil society to deliver better outcomes for all. We look forward to continuing to engage on the review work being led by Henry Dimbleby which is already underway.”
