The supermarket chain has recalled their Crestwood 2 Puff Pastry Cheese and Onion Slices because they contain barley (gluten) and mustard, which are not mentioned on the label.

According to a report by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), due to a packaging error, some packs of their pastry slices may have been filled with an incorrect product. This, the FSA said, means the product is now a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten and/or an allergy to mustard.

As well as recalling the product, Aldi has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. The notice explained to customers why the product is being recalled and told them what to do if they have bought the product.

The company has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

The FSA has advised consumers who have bought the product and have an allergy to mustard and/or an allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten to not eat the product. Instead, the FSA recommended that customers return the product to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
