Co-op and Deliveroo have extended their partnership for a further three years, with plans for the current delivery service to be available at up to 1,400 of the convenience retailer’s stores by the end of the year.

Following a three-year contract renewal, plans have been confirmed for 110 additional Co-op stores to become available via Deliveroo this year, allowing customers to have groceries delivered quickly and “from store to door in minutes.”

Participating stores expected to be covered by the expansion can be found in cities including Nottingham, Liverpool, Swansea and Southampton.

As part of the service, Deliveroo customers can choose from around 2,300 Co-op items. According to the retailer, the delivery service is expected to help cut congestion and unnecessary short car journeys.

Following a trial period, Deliveroo’s premium marketing and order management service, Signature, is also being introduced across hundreds of Co-op stores.

Offering more flexibility

Chris Conway, eCommerce Director, Co-op, said: “We are delighted to be able to expand our partnership with Deliveroo – as a convenience retailer, the ability to come into stores will always be important to customers, but we also know that shoppers want flexible and convenient options online, and so we are focused on providing what our customers want and need, however and wherever they choose to shop with us.”

Carlo Mocci, Chief Business Officer UK and Ireland, Deliveroo added that the company were delighted to be extending its partnership and “bringing more choice into people’s lives and easier ways to shop.”
