Global manufacturer Mars Inc has reportedly paused the supply of two of its pet care brands to Tesco, due to a dispute over the supplier’s price rises.

A spokesperson for Arla Foods, owner of butter manufacturer Lurpak, has said that rises in price across its range of products in UK supermarkets reflect the increase in costs of production for farmers at the start of their supply chain.

Following the issue of Sainsbury’s latest trading figures, the supermarket has reported a “good grocery performance”, with sales down 2.4% against last year’s Covid-19 driven levels and 8.7% ahead of pre-pandemic sales.

Kellogg’s has lost a High Court challenge against the government over incoming food regulations that will restrict promotions on products classified as high in fat, sugar and salt (HFSS).
