Organisers report that the forthcoming annual Women In Meat Industry Awards dinner is set for another sell out occasion, as the initiative goes from strength to strength.

Scheduled for the evening of Friday 15th November at the five star Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, the annual Awards celebrate the extensive contribution women make to the UK meat industry and presentations are made across 10 categories. There are 36 finalists and almost 7,000 votes were cast this year.

The initiative, which includes the Meat Businesswoman of the Year Award, is supported by a range of industry partners and organised by Meat Management magazine. New this year is category partner Moguntia Food Ingredients UK Ltd., who will partner the Meat Businesswoman Award – Retailing category. Colin Hitch, commercial director of Moguntia spoke about why the company has become involved:

“This is a great initiative and we want to fully support and highlight the brilliant job women do in our industry. We are a business built on customer focus, technical excellence, innovation and culinary flair. We operate from a world class manufacturing base in the UK, coupled with group manufacturing in four countries. Women play a very significant part in all this, whether they are customers, our account managers, technologists or manufacturing operatives, so we are excited about being involved.

“The Awards also challenge any stereotypical view about the meat and food industry being dominated by men. There will be many great role models recognised on Awards night and the occasion, plus the subsequent publicity, also highlights what great career opportunities exist in the industry for female talent. We are delighted to participate.”

ABP is another new supporter for 2019 partnering with the Meat Businesswoman Award – Foodservice category. Jo Benson, Marketing Director of ABP commented: “We’re delighted to support this years Women In Meat Industry Awards celebrating the brilliant women who make such an important contribution right across the sector. At ABP, we encourage more women to pursue careers in the food industry and promote diversification in the workplace. We are looking forward to a great celebration on November 15th.”
