Having just launched its own basic Food safety & Hygiene for Manufacturing online course for those in entry-level positions in food manufacturing, training company Verner Wheelock is offering it completely free of charge for a limited period during lockdown.

The course content is equivalent to Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene but has been tailored to be completely relevant to food manufacturing.

The six modules consist of an introduction to food safety and food poisoning; microbiological hazards; physical, chemical and allergenic hazards; controlling hazards; workplace and hygiene design; and legal and personal responsibility.

Managing director of Verner Wheelock, Alison Wheelock, said: “We had initially intended this course for internal use, as a refresher for delegates on our Food Safety and HACCP courses, but we soon realised that there is nothing quite like it in terms of online training.

“Given the current situation regarding Covid-19, many staff are working from home, furloughed or needing basic food safety training to be able to undertake new roles in the food or farming sector, we felt it would be the ideal time to launch it and offer it free of charge, to give people a helping hand.”
