Henry Dimbleby of the National Food Strategy will lead the speaker line-up at the Westminster Food & Nutrition Forum policy conference in July to outline a new food strategy for England.
The speakers will also include Stefano Agostino, CEO of Nestlé , the president of the National Farmers Union (NFU), Minette Batters, Ian Wright, chief executive of the Food and Drink Federation and also contributions from Public Health England, Head of Consumer Protection and Food Policy at Which? and academics from the CIty University of London.
The conference is timed to follow the publication of Dimbleby’s interim report in March this year and will take place ahead of the publication of the final strategy expected in the autumn.
Dimbleby, who is the independent lead for the National Food Strategy and a lead non-executive director at Defra, said: “Our scope is intentionally broad. We have been asked to set out what needs to be done – across all departments of government and in society more broadly – to build a robust food system that provides good affordable food to everyone; restores the environment; maintains our countryside; brings good jobs to our communities – rural and urban; and stops making us sick.”
