Food Standards Agency CEO Emily Miles will be among the speakers discussing the impact of Covid-19 and Brexit on food safety and regulation at a conference in July.

Miles will be joined at the Westminster Food and Nutrition Forum policy conference by representatives from across the industry. These include Helen Munday, president of the Institute of Food Science and Technology, Prof Mark Booth from Food Standards Australia New Zealand and Tom Forshaw, senior analyst of policy at AHDB.

The online conference will consider the way forward for the UK as it sets its own course for food regulation and standards following Brexit.

Critical challenges posed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic are also on the wide-ranging agenda, along with the future of international trade deals, regulatory reform, consumer priorities, financial sustainability, innovation, technology, transparency and addressing challenges in food safety at the local level.

Representatives from Burges Salmon, BGI Group, the Chartered Trading Standards Institute, Fera Science, Tate & Lyle PLC, UK Hospitality and Which? are also due to take part. The event will be chaired by Deidre Brock MP, co-vice chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Food and Drink.

Further speakers and attendees are expected to include senior members of both Houses of Parliament, and senior government and regulatory officials.

The conference starts at 8.30am on Wednesday 14th July. Places can be booked online.
