From government advisors to frontline retail workers, people from across the food industry have been honoured in the 2021 Queen’s Birthday List.

The list of those honoured includes:

• Prue Leith CBE DL – Restaurateur and television presenter – For services to food, broadcasting and charity

Companion of the Order of the Bath

• Dr David Bernard Kennedy CBE – Director general, Food, Farming and Animal and Plant Health, Defra – For public service particularly during the pandemic
• Professor Guy Poppy – Lately chief scientific advisor at the Food Standards Agency and professor of ecology at the University of Southampton – For services to food safety and security

Commander of the Order of the British Empire

• Anthony John Bourne CBE – Director, Defra – Services to EU exit
• Michael Graham Rowe – Director, Marine and Fisheries, Defra – Services to EU exit and international trade

Member of the Order of the British Empire

• Samantha Mary Ward Dyer – Director and CEO, Cambridge Sustainable Food CIC – For services to tackling food inequality during Covid-19
• Josie Morris – Managing director, Woolcool – Services to manufacturing and environment

Medallist of the Order of the British Empire

• James Austin Beardwell – Customer services assistant, Sainsbury’s – For services to the food supply chain during Covid-19
• Casey Abbott – Store manager, Iceland – For services to retail
