The City Food Lecture celebrates its 21st anniversary as it returns to an in-person event on Thursday 17th February 2022.

The event aims to discuss the issues driving the industry forward and will be organised by the seven City of London livery companies: the Worshipful Company of Bakers, Butchers, Cooks, Farmers, Fishmongers, Fruiterers and Poulters.

The Lecture brings together on the night 650 industry leaders, academics and liverymen as well as offers the ‘Future Generation Forum’ for university students

This year the City Food Lecture will be held at London’s Guildhall. Guests who are unable to physically attend will be able to join remotely via a virtual hub.

The keynote speaker is due to be announced in the lead up to the event, followed by the panellists and lecture theme.

“The forefront of the burning issues”

John Giles, chairman of City Food Lecture, said: “2022 marks a huge moment in the history of the City Food Lecture as we will be celebrating our 21st lecture. Back in 2001 we started out by looking at ‘The UK food chain – making life better’ led by keynote speaker, Peter Blackburn, CBE and former chairman and CEO of Nestlé. Over the years, each lecture has been led by an equally hot topic led by our keynote speaker and panel, and we’ve enjoyed the company of the who’s who with this regard.”

He added: “2022 will be no different – we have always set out our stall to be at the forefront of the burning issues we face across the food and agricultural sectors across our livery companies. We look forward to once again gathering 600+ industry attendees, our livery men and women as well as the future industry leaders from our student attendees next February.”
