UK café chain Pret a Manger has revealed that it will be changing its final three branches of its Veggie Pret stores back to regular Pret stores, as the chain states that one in three of all its main meal sales are “veggie or vegan-friendly”.

On the 19th February, eight years after the Veggie Pret concept was launched, the two stores on Broadwick Street in Soho and Great Eastern Street in London will change back to regular Pret a Manger outlets. In Manchester, the third branch will change on 26th February.

Originally planned as a one month trial, the flagship Veggie Pret store in Soho started as a popup store in the summer 2016 and eventually led to the opening of a further nine sites.

Katherine Bagshawe, UK food and coffee director at Pret a Manger, said: “Today, one in three of all our main meals sales are veggie or vegan-friendly. Every Pret shop is a Veggie Pret shop, with new vegetarian and vegan-friendly products coming onto our menu all the time.

“Our original Meatless Meatball Hot Wrap was born in Veggie Pret, yet it became a top five bestseller across the whole of Pret within its first week of launching, showing us how customers across all our shops want amazing veggie food.”
