Sheldon’s, which is based in Openshaw, has produced baked goods since 1949. It now supplies a range of bread rolls to Aldi stores across the UK.
The family-owned bakery has worked with Aldi for more than 15 years, and reported that its annual volumes had more than doubled over the past decade.
According to Sheldon’s, the growth has supported investment across the business, including an expanded workforce, a larger delivery fleet and plans for a new factory in Manchester – where it has been based for more than 75 years – which is expected to be operational by early 2028.
The new facility will aim to support the bakery’s future growth and create new jobs, while also helping the business to improve its sustainability practices.
Sarah Sheldon, director at Sheldon’s, commented: “We’re incredibly proud to have supplied Aldi for more than 15 years.
“The partnership has helped us continue investing in our people, products and operations while remaining true to the values that have guided our family business for more than 75 years. As we look ahead to the next chapter of growth, we’re excited to continue building on that success together.”
Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, stated: “Sheldon’s is a fantastic example of the family-owned British businesses we are always so proud to work with.
“From its roots in Manchester to its plans for future expansion, the business has gone from strength to strength. We’re proud to support that journey and bring its products to Aldi customers across the country.”
