The City Food Lecture will be held on Tuesday 26th February 2019 at the Guildhall, London with speakers such as Minette Batters and Dominic Blakemore.
The invitation only event has become a well-established feature of both the City of London and food industry calendar, with the lecture being promoted by the seven food related Livery Companies in the City, including the Worshipful Company of Butchers.
The 2019 key note speaker has been announced as Dominic Blakemore, Group CEO of Compass. He will be addressing the major international challenges facing global food companies, the implications for British food companies which are being encouraged to engage in more international trade, and the future role of technology in the supply chain.
Blakemore is an influential and important figure in both the future of UK and international food retailing, as well as the development of the supply chain and the wider British economy.
Following the lecture there will be a question and answer session with a panel of food specialists chaired by Chris White, managing director of Fruitnet Media International. The panel will comprise Professor Corinna Hawkes – director, Centre for Food Policy at City, University of London, Minette Batters – president, National Farmers’ Union and Tamira Treffers-Herrera – regional head of the EU of Rabobank.
Each of the panellists are known for their wide ranging views and opinions across a wide spectrum covering the UK and international agricultural and food sectors. Organisers say they expect a lively debate, in which the audience is encouraged to fully participate.
