Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK is starting the year having completed a significant acquisition of a micro testing business in Scotland.

It confirmed the acquisition of Linlithgow-based Express Micro Science, one of Scotland’s leading analytical testing businesses with expertise across water, chemistry, agriculture and food microbiology.

Mark Carnaghan, managing director of Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK, explained: “We are delighted to welcome Express Micro Science, and the entire team, into the Eurofins business. The acquisition will provide even greater value to customers of Express, who can benefit from the same level of expertise and service they’ve been used to whilst being supported by a network of trusted world-class laboratories, inter-company services, and our pioneering customer platform, Europortal.”

Following a string of successful acquisitions during 2022, Eurofins has continued to expand its service offering and reach into even more areas of the UK, including Wales and Northern Ireland.

“At Eurofins, we’re committed to providing great local services to our customers,” Mark added. “This acquisition will enable us to offer a Centre of Excellence in Microbiology in Scotland, supporting customers in and around the country, as well as provide an enhanced range of testing by drawing on Eurofins’ global scope and capabilities.”

Express Micro Science is based just off the M9 between Edinburgh and Falkirk, making it a prime location for sample drop-off and collection points, and connecting it with ease to some of Eurofins’ other UK labs as well as major transportation networks.
