The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) has  launched a new campaign aimed at highlighting the importance of environmental health, raising the profile of the profession and inspiring the next generation of Environmental Health Practitioners (EHPs).

Launched to coincide with World Environmental Health day, CIEH’s “What is Environmental Health?” campaign looks to promote the work of EHPs across a range of vital policy areas such as food safety, environmental protection, housing standards and public health.

The work of EHPs to safeguard human health and wellbeing is often overlooked which is why this campaign focuses on the stories of real EHPs. It showcases the meaningful role that they play in protecting the public, as well as their inspirations and passion.

Anne Godfrey, chief executive of CIEH said:“I am delighted to launch this campaign. Environmental Health Practitioners are such an important element in our lives, protecting our health and improving our environment. They should be incredibly proud of the part they play in keeping people safe.

“From the food we eat, to the air we breathe, EHPs are involved in making our lives better. We want to put them in the limelight, celebrating their successes and outlining how rewarding a career in environmental health really can be.”
