National food celebration, British Food Fortnight, will take place from 23rd September until 8th October for the 15th year, aiming to bring together organisations in retail and catering.

As part of the event, foodservice provider Sodexo, which serves around a million meals a day in the UK, will be running British Food Fortnight promotions in approximately 600 of its sites, including schools, hospitals, defence, prisons and corporates.

In addition, food wholesaler Brakes will be treating customers to a wide range of breakfast recipes with twists on favourite dishes throughout the fortnight, developed by its team of chefs.

What’s more, the company will be touring depots and offices across the UK and sharing British-themed dishes with the workforce.

Brakes canteens will also be serving up British favourites, while celebrity chef Mark Sargeant will be hosting a morning of live cooking at Brakes food service offices in Covent Garden, where he will be preparing dishes.

As part of the event, 300 schools in Hampshire will also be having a British Food Fortnight lunch on 5th October, while across the country, there will be special school trips to farms, organised by Riverford Food, with farm tours, tastings and cooking lessons.

Catering organisation and Love British Food Official Partner, Cucina, also is serving a special British Food Fortnight menu every day for 60,000 British state school pupils across 50 schools.

Each day during the fortnight will feature a different classic British food, while school menus will highlight nutritional benefits and information on where the food has come from.

Founder of Love British Food and British Food Fortnight, Alexia Robinson, said: “The support from foodservice outlets this year has been exceptional.

“Having so many high-profile organisations on board has prompted us to stage the first ever Love British Food Foodservice Summit in London during the Fortnight with all the big names taking part.”
