UK Sausage Week, the annual promotion that celebrates the best of the British and Irish sausage industries, will return next year from 28th October – 3rd November, organisers have confirmed.

The week commences with a celebration lunch in London on 28th October 2024, when the UK Supreme Sausage Champion will be revealed alongside a host of category winners.

Dates for the national product competition to find next year’s sausage champions will be announced early in the new year, with full details of how to enter products for evaluation and judging.

Categories for UK Sausage Week 2024:

  • Best Pork Sausage
  • Best Beef Sausage
  • Best Lincolnshire Sausage
  • Best Cumberland Sausage
  • Best Chipolata Sausage
  • Best Gluten Free / Free From Sausage
  • Best Chicken Sausage
  • Best Speciality Sausage
  • UK Sausage Week – Supreme UK Champion

The competition will be headed up by Chief Judge Keith Fisher, the CEO of the Institute of Meat (IoM). Commenting on announcement of the 2024 programme, Fisher said: “Entries in previous years have been outstanding and it is brilliant news that UK Sausage Week will return in 2024 when we can celebrate all things sausage!”

As with previous years, organisers estimate over 600 products will be entered as part of the week-long promotion; with butchers, supermarkets, foodservice and manufacturers from across the UK expected to get involved.

The national promotion returns for 2024 following a break of several years, as the programme was halted during the Covid-19 pandemic. Publisher of Meat Management magazine, Graham Yandell MBE said: “We were really disappointed to suspend UK Sausage Week during the Covid pandemic and it is very good news that we are able to bring it back in 2024.

“Over recent years the innovation that has been introduced into product ranges has been amazing and not only are sausages good value and safe to eat, but are often good fun too. Our team is always delighted to hear about all the activities that will be going on around the UK over the UKSW period. And our awards lunch on 28th October will once again get UK Sausage Week off with a banger!”
