Beacon Foods appoints managing director

Ingredients business Beacon Foods has appointed Jeff Davies as its managing director, which will enable co-founder and chairman Edward Gough to focus on the company's expansion.

Ingredients business Beacon Foods has appointed Jeff Davies as its managing director, enabling co-founder and chairman Edward Gough to focus on the company’s expansion.

Following a 19-year tenure at Beacon Foods, Davies has been promoted to lead the Brecon-based company. He joined the business in 2007 as a company accountant, having started his career at a chartered accountants in Brecon.

During his Beacon Foods career, the company grew its workforce from 100 to 180, boosted turnover from £8 million to £25 million and increased factory space, supported by a £6 million expansion programme and Welsh Government backing.

Davies commented: “The plan is to continue the success by growing the business and recruiting good quality, local staff. Supported by a very good team of directors, managers and skilled staff, we are developing the business by attracting new customers, increasing orders from existing customers and launching exciting, new products.

“There’s a lot of positivity within the business and the order book is looking good. We must thank the Welsh Government, whose support has enabled the company to expand more quickly, recruit more staff and secure new orders.”

Davies will continue to oversee the finance team in his expanded role.

Gough stated: “Jeff has been part of the Beacon Foods journey for 19 years and has become a hugely respected and valued member of the team. His deep understanding of our business, our people and our values makes him the ideal person to lead us into the future.

“Working closely with our management team and colleagues across the business, he will continue to build on the strong growth and success we have achieved in recent years, while keeping our focus firmly on quality, innovation and community. We are excited about what lies ahead for the business.”
