Following the reveal of a ‘surprise’ honours list, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced that Farming Minister Mark Spencer will receive a Knighthood.
Minister for Food, Farming and Fisheries Mark Spencer was appointed Minister for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in September 2022 after serving as Chief Whip from 2019 to 2022.
Spencer joins three other MPs also receiving honours, including Harriet Baldwin MP, Tracey Crouch CBE MP and Philip Davies MP.
Speaking to the BBC, Spencer said: “I’m still trying to process it but everybody else has been really kind and lots of nice messages.
“My focus is still the same as it ever was. I’m here to represent the people of Sherwood. That’s the community that I represent and that I care about and that’s what I’ll carry on doing.”
