Anticipation is building around which one of seven UK supermarkets will be crowned ‘Food Retailer of the Year’ at the 2024 Food Management Today Industry Awards ceremony in June.

The FMT Food Industry Awards is an annual awards initiative that celebrates the successes of the British and Irish food manufacturing and retailing industries from the past year and beyond.

2024’s awards programme culminates in a business luncheon and awards ceremony held on Thursday 27th June at the Royal Garden Hotel in London. World-renowned chef and TV personality Michel Roux Jr. is set to host the afternoon’s proceedings.

Last year, discount retailer Aldi UK took home the prestigious title of ‘Food Retailer of the Year’ for the second year in a row. 2023 was a stand out year for the retailer as it was repeatedly found by Which? to be the cheapest UK supermarket. This followed a record 18.7% sales growth, reported at the end of 2022.

Julie Ashfield of Aldi UK.

At Aldi, we are very proud of our values and continued commitment to quality, which sets us apart from others. Congratulations to the entire team!”
