Restaurants who receive supplies from the Bestfood company face possible disruption to food deliveries in the run up to Christmas, following the announcement of a forthcoming strike ballot by the GMB Union.

Almost 600 GMB members working for Bestfood will take part in a strike ballot after its workers rejected a recent pay rise offer of 6%.

Bestfood deliver fresh food to restaurants such as Pizza Express, KFC, Zizzi, Burger King, Wagamama and Pizza Hut. A total of 93% of GMB members rejected the latest deal offered by the company.

The GMB union said that dates for the strike ballot will be announced in the coming days.
