The Fresh Produce Consortium has warned that the fresh produce supply chain could see major costs and disruption as a result of the Government’s UK-EU sanitary and phytosanitary agreement.
Defra has reportedly suggested that SPS checks on EU fruit and vegetables be delayed until 1st July 2025.
The Fresh Produce Consortium criticised the UK border strategy, which has now come into force.
Following the Government’s announcement of new Common User Charges, FPC has called it a “thinly veiled tax on the industry”.
