Meatless Farm and Vegan Fried Chicken are to split from plant-based company Vegan Food Group.

According to various reports, Vegan Fried Chicken (VFC) has officially closed its Clive’s Purely Plants facility and made 32 members of staff redundant, while stating that its Vegan Fried Chicken and Meatless Farm brands were preparing to separate from the Vegan Food Group (VFG).

Meatless Farm was acquired by VFC in June 2023, while Clive’s Purely Plants was picked up by the company later that same year.

It appears that VFC co-founder Adam Lyons has recently re-entered the business to simplify the company’s structure, as VFC Food, which operates the Meatless Farm and VFC brands, intends to split away from VFG.

Lyons is quoted as saying that VFC Foods would continue to trade as normal.

Matthew Glover, chairman of VFG, is also reported as saying that: “Decisions were made in the interest of creating a permanent, profitable operation to produce and distribute sustainable plant protein across Europe.”

Glover has not commented yet about potential job losses, or given any further information about VFG’s future.

Note: VFG has been contacted for comment but has not responded at the time this story was posted.
