UK supermarket Asda has urged Government to reconsider plans to defund leadership and management apprenticeships.
Asda’s Income Tracker has found that 60% of UK households saw a drop in weekly disposable income in August, as rising costs for essentials like food and transport continue to outpace wage growth.
Total revenue is down by 0.2% year-on-year, but the supermarket reported that investment in lower prices has strengthened like-for-like sales during the quarter.
According to Asda’s latest income tracker, middle-income families have experienced the first decline in disposable income since September 2023.
